Macaé, Brazil -- Polymer and syntactic foam-based solutions producer Trelleborg Offshore has started work on a new manufacturing facility in Brazil.
The new facility, due to open towards the end of 2011, will make the company's entire product range which includes a variety of polymer-based solutions for offshore topside, and subsea oil and gas exploration.
Alan Wilson, president of Trelleborg Offshore, commented in a 7 Jan statement: "Major oil and gas discoveries have been made off the coast of Brazil in recent years, as a consequence of which we are experiencing increasing demand for our high-performance polymer and syntactic foam-based buoyancy and cable protection solutions from the region."
The new facility is located in the coastal city of Macaé, about 180 km north of Rio di Janeiro, which is an important location for the offshore oil industry. LMH
