Oxford, UK – World car registrations in August 2020 were down 10.30% compared with the same month in 2019 at 6.41 m units, according to LMC Automotive. This is a larger decline than the 6.6% drop in automotive sales recorded in July.
World car registrations dipped in August
In the US, sales were lower by 19.1% in August, at 1.3 m units. In the same month in 2019, US dealers sold 1.6m units.
Meanwhile, sales in China hit 2.1 m units, up 8.5% on the previous month. In the same month in 2019, Chinese dealers sold 1.9m units.
In Western Europe, sales were 890,000 units in the month. This is 17.4% lower than the number sold in August 2019.
Sales in Brazil and Argentina fell to 202 ,000 units in the August. This compares with 274,000 units in the same month in 2019.
