Oxford, UK – World car registrations in June 2020 were down 18.1% compared with the same month in 2019 at 6.36 m units, according to LMC Automotive.
In the US sales were lower by 26.2% in June. They reached 1.1 m units. In the same month in 2019 US dealers sold 1.5m units.
Meanwhile, in China , according to LMC Automotive, sales hit 2.2 m units and were up 6.0% on the month in the previous. In the same month in 2019 Chinese dealers sold 2.1m units.
At the same time, in Western Europe sales were 1.1m units in the month. This is lower than the amount sold in June 2019 by 27%.
Sales in Brazil and Argentina fell to 158 ,000 units in the month. This compares with 249 ,000 units in the same month in 2019.
LMC Automotive added: 'While the latest results are still well below healthy market levels, they do represent a continuing improvement from the April low. With lockdowns being lifted across much of the world, recovery appears to be underway, though a sizeable risk of deterioration remains.'
