Gaithersburg, Maryland – On-demand manufacturing specialist Xometry has started a carbon offset programme to reduce the environmental impact of its shipped packages. These include cast urethane components.
It is partnering with Dot Neutral, an organisation that connects businesses with carbon emissions offset initiatives. These include reforestation, renewable energy, and gas capture.
Every time Xometry or one of its manufacturing partners ships a package, it will invest in a carbon emissions offset initiative with Dot Neutral. It estimates that over a three-month period, the programme will offset more than 200,000kg of carbon.
‘Partnering with Dot Neutral allows Xometry to reduce our carbon footprint and hopefully will inspire other industry leaders and manufacturers to do the same,’ said Randy Altschuler, Xometry’s CEO. ‘[Our] partner network approach also maximises the utilisation of existing manufacturing facilities. We will continue to find other ways to expand the impact of our efforts.’
