Yantai, China -- Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes Co. Ltd, Asia Pacific's largest producer of the isocyanate MDI, will be represented on Stand No. 400 at the forthcoming UTECH North America exhibition, 11 -13 Oct 2010, in Houston, Texas.
Yantai Wanhua said it will demonstrate its commitment to global supplies, technical innovation and green technologies, with a focus on its new aliphatic isocyanates and thermoplastic PU elastomers (TPUs).
By the end of 2010, the total capacity of the Yantai and Ningbo MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) plants will reach 800 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa). Yantai's new Wanhua Bajiao Chemical Industrial Park is already under construction and will make a further 600 ktpa MDI and 300 ktpa TDI (toluene diisocyanate), resulting in a total isocyanates capacity of 1.8 million tonnes.
Yantai Wanhua said it continues innovations in aliphatic isocyanates. Production of both HDI and HMDI has started and the company says novel aliphatic diisocyanates (ADIs) such as IPDI and XDI will be added to the range in the not too distant future.
Yantai Wanhua also claims to be China's biggest TPU supplier and says new TPU products will be presented at UTECH, including ADI-based, and halogen-free TPUs, plus hot melts and super soft varieties.
According to Yantai Wanhua, it is also committed to use of green chemistry and sustainable developments in the PU industry including:
•Water based PUs for coatings and adhesives;
•Palm-oil based green polyether polyols;
•Insulation materials for energy efficiency; and
•Zero-E straw boards from crop straw with zero formaldehyde emissions.
The company is also presenting two papers at the CPI conference, on environmentally friendly PU coating technologies and MDI viscoelastic slabstock foams.
