Yantai, China - Yantai Wanhua Polyurethanes Co.'s MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) products are to be used in the construction of the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway in China - the world's largest polyurea waterproofing project - Yantai said 27 Oct.
According to Yantai, polyurea coatings made from the company's Wannate MDI-50, Wannate 8312 and Wanalink 6200 gives excellent tear strength, elongation, and the ability to withstand the impact of high speed, overload and and alternating shock load from high speed trains.
At 1318 kilometres long, the Beijing to Shanghai line is China's first high-speed railway and cost RMB 22.094 billion ($3200 million). Around 20 000 tons of spray polyurea in total is needed for the project. The railway is scheduled to start operation in 2010. (RD)
