Vladimir, Russia - Mikhail Tsarfin has been appointed general manager at Dow Izolan, with effect from 1 Nov 2008. Tsarfin, who ran the Izolan systems operation at Vladimir before Dow bought into the business in 2006, replaces Aldo de Santi, who was put in by Dow to manage the Dow Izolan joint venture.
Dow has just announced that it broke ground 9 Sept on a new plant at the site to expand the operation's systems capacity in the rapidly growing Russian market. This "state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Vladimir … is expected to be completed by the end of third quarter 2009," said a Dow statement.
This new systems facility will help Dow Izolan serve its customers in Russia's fast-growing automotive, consumer, footwear, furniture, construction and appliance markets.=
De Santi "will assume expanded business responsibilities," while keeping his current role of commercial director for Northern Europe for the Dow Polyurethane Systems business, said Dow. He will also continue to offer his expertise to the joint venture, after relocating to Italy in January 2009.
Tsarfin, who has been Dow Izolan's sales and marketing director and deputy general manager for two years, is succeeded by Sergey Anikin as sales and marketing director. Anikin is currently sales and marketing manager for Dow Base and Performance Chemicals in Russia and the ex-Soviet Union.
Acknowledging de Santi's commitment to Dow Izolan and the success of the company in its first two years, Juan Antonio Merino, general manager of Dow Polyurethane's Systems business, said, "Mikhail has been instrumental to the success of Dow Izolan. … In his new capacity, Mikhail will further the company's growth strategy and continue to strengthen its customer-first philosophy. He will be supported by Sergey, whose experience in the Russian polyurethane systems market gives Dow Izolan a distinct advantage."
Commenting on his time at Dow Izolan, Aldo de Santi referred to the, "competence, vision and passion for results," of the people he met, and expressed his confidence that Tsarfin would, "continue to foster the culture of cooperation, innovation and appreciation for the unique perspectives and styles every employee brings to the workplace."
