Grafenberg, Germany - Germany's RAMPF Group has bought the Form-In-Place Gasketing Division of Canadian Chemque Inc.'s as part of its aim to establish global market leadership in foam gaskets.
The deal will close 1 Jan 2009.
Rexdale, Ontario-headquartered Chemque wants to focus on its Specialty Graphics, Construction and Telecommunications divisions.
Adding Chemque's FDA-approved (US Food and Drug Administration) and UL-approved (Underwriters' Laboratories) gasket materials will enhance the wide product portfolio of RAMPF, the company said.
The European market will be supplied by the German RAMPF Giessharze GmbH & Co. KG, while US subsidiary, RAMPF Group Inc. in Wixom, Michigan, will serve customers in the NAFTA region.
"Chemque has a first-class name within the sealing foam and other businesses and is well-known far beyond the borders of North America," said Rampf's statement. The group's experience and high-quality products, will give RAMPF new growth potential. "We approached each other quite openly," said Michael Rampf (pictured), acting partner of RAMPF Group, in a 17 Dec statement.
For Chemque, RAMPF Group's know-how, both in foam gaskets, and application technology, are an advantage to customers of its Gasketing Division, the company said. Chemque's ceo Alex Botrie said its Gasketing Division "will continue in good hands," and feels that Rampf will offer Chemque's customers a similar close relationship and service.
Both companies have co-operated closely over the years and have developed a new patented technology jointly. "We will continue development of Co-Dispense technology to the production stage and establish this exciting technology in the sealing market," Michael Rampf said.
