Greater Noida, India -- Paper group Mondi says its process liner consisting of Kraft paper and polymer coating guarantees higher production efficiency for flexible foam producers, and it presented the unique concept to the Indian slabstock sector during the third Indian Polyurethane Exhibition & Conference, PU TECH 2011, held 9-11 March in India.
Mondi's Olmo process liner is mostly used within the flexible foam industry and, the company claims, offers "substantial advantages" to customers manufacturing slabstock for upholstery products such as mattresses and furniture.
"Mondi is the pioneer of this cost-effective solution," said Michael Strobl, managing director of Extrusion Coating at Mondi.. "The Olmo paper forms a protective skin, improving foam cure and overall product characteristics," he added,
Additional advantages, says Mondi, are a cleaner manufacturing environment as well as the recyclability of the Kraft paper, reducing waste and lowering cost.
The dynamic growth of the Indian flexible foam market makes the region strategically important for the future. Attendees heard experts from the organising body, the Indian Polyurethane Association, note growth rates in the PU sector of 18-22 percent at least.
At the venue for PU Tech 2011, the India Expo Centre in Greater Noida outside New Delhi, Mondi saw a steady stream of visitors to see its products for optimising flexible foam production.
