Media, Pennsylvania -- John Cowles has been named president and ceo of FXI, a polyurethane foam company based in Pennsylvania in the US.
FXI is the former Foamex International Inc. business that was purchased out of bankruptcy in 2009.
Cowles replaces Jack Johnson, who is retiring after six years and two tours of duty but will remain on as chairman of the board.
"We are confident that FXI will greatly benefit from [Cowles'] supply chain, innovation and general industry experience as we continue to focus on driving enterprise value through growth and new business development," Johnson said in a news release.
Cowles most recently was ceo of Touchstone Wireless. Previously he was president of George Weston Bakeries of Horsham, Pennsylvania. Cowles also served as executive vice president and general manager for Kraft Foods where he ran the beverage, cookies, confections and condiments businesses.
Cowles has an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Cornell University.
