Florham Park, New Jersey -- BASF Corp. officially opened its new North American headquarters at 100 Park Avenue in Florham Park, New Jersey on 4 May. The 325 000-sq.ft (30 000-sq.m) building is designed to achieve LEED double Platinum certification. (LEED is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, a certification of the US Green Building Council.)
The BASF building features many of the group's construction solutions -- and is one of New Jersey's largest sustainable buildings, the company said.
"Our new headquarters stands as a tangible example of how BASF creates chemistry for a sustainable future," said Hans Engel, chairman and ceo of BASF, in a company statement.
"By incorporating the latest technologies and materials with smart design and sophisticated ergonomics, we will be protective of the environment while providing 1400 employees with a healthy and safe work atmosphere where they can even better cooperate and collaborate," Engel added.
