San Diego, California -- Rhino Linings. has purchased Advanced Coating Solutions to expand its coating systems and product development capabilities.
Advanced Coating, like Rhino Linings, is based in San Diego and was a longtime supplier to its new parent company before the purchase.
Rhino Linings has transferred Advanced Coating's production and personnel to its plant, said Jennifer Wilson, brand manager for Rhino Linings. There are no plans presently to expand the facility to handle the additional work load.
The move “gives them the resources necessary to focus on new product development based on technologies pioneered by the company,” she said.
The privately held company did not give headcount nor did it say what will happen to Advanced Coating's closed plant.
Advanced Coating develops urethanes, epoxies, stains, sealers and topcoats. Rhino Linings produces sprayed polyure-thane, rolled polyurethane, polyaspartic and epoxy coatings and linings for industrial, municipal and residential applications.
“We've been a customer of Advanced Coating Solutions for years, and we see so much potential, not just in their current products but also in new products they want to commercialize,” said to Pierre Gagnon, president and CEO of Rhino Linings, which was formed in 1988.
“We saw an opportunity to help them reach their potential and to play a role in bringing new products to market,” he said.
Wilson said Rhino Linings will continue producing the acquired firm's current commercial products, including water-based polyurethanes, acrylic coatings and water-based acrylic emulsion coatings.
“As a result of Rhino Linings' streamlined manufacturing process, scale of production, warehouse and logistics network, these products will be more price competitive in the market,” she said.
