Buscheid, Germany – Johnson Controls has named its seating business Adient, ahead of a planned spinoff into a publicly traded company in October 2016.

“Adient is a Latin word that means accepting and advancing a situation or stimulus,” said Bruce McDonald Johnson Controls vice chairman and planned ceo of Adient.
Speaking at the Deutsche Bank Global Auto Industry Conference in Detroit, Michigan, he said this is the first step to launching a new automotive seating company which will be driven by “leadership in cost” among other attributes.
McDonald added that the firm would position itself to have high growth and profitability and strong cash flow, with investments in to gain share and increased value to customers and shareholders.
