Macclesfield, UK – Opus Technical is delivering its first vertical vacuum flexible foam machine to Sheela Foam for installation in New Delhi, India.
Opus, which was launched in 2012, is a relatively new firm staffed by people with a long history in the polyurethane foam industry. Brian Blackwell, chairman founded Viking in the UK in the 1960s and went on to a long career with Bemech.
The vertical vacuum foaming technology produces highly consistent foam irrespective of atmospheric conditions. It produces in widths which are suitable for easy confectioning into thin sheets, said Bill Blackwell, director.
The process can make useful foam at densities down to around 10kg/m3, he said. Such foam is increasingly replacing polyester wadding in mattress construction in countries such as Australia, he added.
This is not the first such machine in Sheela’s ownership said Bill Blackwell, the company gained such a machine with its purchase of Joyce Foam in November 2005.
